Fused Morley J Moose III - How to Applique

Shana's Morley

Learned something new by using this method of appliqueing pieces together on the ironing board, on a pressing sheet (the commercial kind). You will overlap each piece onto the other and then press it together like a puzzle. IMPORTANT: When cool, peel entire unit from pressing sheet and place on background fabric. It should now be one complete unit which makes it easy to lay on background fabric. Press design onto the background fabric by using an up and down motion with a medium iron for about 8-10 seconds in any one spot. Thank you, Paula, for your expertise!

A Memorial Day Weekend Sale!!!

April 14th (this Saturday) is Morley J Moose taught by Ruby for the guild - he's so cute! He's on the blog, too, and there are more samples in other colors at the shop.

Our next class is the Kaleidoscope class with Carol McConahy on April 28th. That looks like a lot of fun, too, as there are so many possiblities! You don't want to miss this one, sign up soon! Although she recommends the Marti Michell book and ruler, you can use any kaleidoscope book and 45 degree ruler you have. She will help you learn the versatility of the kaleidoscope block, and different techniques that work for you. There are some awesome designs ranging from a simple 2 color block to a "stack n whack" style. Come in and see the samples in the classroom, and get your creative juices flowing! Sign up soon - only $15 for the class, 10.00 to 4:00. Check out the blog for pictures!

On May 5th, Joyce Bendell will be teaching us a mystery quilt called :"Mystery at the Ranch" The cost is only $16.50 and includes the pattern! Some people ask what it is, and we have to say "I don't know, it's a mystery!" Joyce will give you one step at a time, so you don't know what it looks like until you're done. It's so much fun. When you sign up and pay, you will get your fabric requirements (the key to choosing fabrics is CONTRAST) and the first step. Yes, that means there's homework before class, but you'll get that much more done in class!

Then on May 26th is Sandi's next installment of her block of the month called America the Beautiful. See the blog for this one, too. No cost for guild members or $5.00 for non-members.

And - big news!!!! A Memorial Day Weekend Sale!!! Thursday May 24th through Monday May 28th we'll have 25% storewide!

(the usual exceptions apply- consignments, fabric already on sale, etc.)

Thursday through Monday should give everyone time to get in and shop, even if you have weekend plans.

If you've ever wanted to try a Kaleidoscope quilt, now is your chance! Carol McConahy will be here on April 28th to teach us the kaleidocope technique. Sandi Schultz has started a block of the month called America the Beautiful. She has already had one month, but I'm sure it's not too late to get that pattern from her. The second installment is this coming Saturday, April 7th here at the shop. If you are a guild member there is no charge, but if you are not a guild member it's a $5.00 charge. It's a beautiful quilt with a variety of pieced houses, barns, trees, etc. There are samples of current and past blocks at the shop. Sign up soon, you won't be sorry!

The following Saturday, April 14th, is the regular guild craft day, with the project "Morley J Moose". Ruby is teaching this applique' wallhanging of a moose of a different color! Patterns are available from the guild, just ask at the Calico Cow - they are $12.50. He is so cute, you don't want to miss this one!
